Meet Your Next Audiobook Narrator

Introducing Dana:

I am a a self identified “Eater, Feeder, Creator.” Raised in a small town Iowa (Think: Corn, Not Potatoes). Being a first-generation Chinese-American, I often felt like an outsider at home and always knew adventure awaited me. I’m happy to say I have gone many adventure since then. I have lived in seven different metropolitan areas (and counting) in the US and it’s given me a lot of perspective and knowledge of regional culture.

I take this zest for adventure into my storytelling. As an audiobook narrator I love the way a book can be ingested through sound. It’s so fun applying my bubbly voice to YA and MG stories, and can’t wait to narrate more Thriller/Suspense and all things Romance. My favorite is voicing characters who are complex, resilient, a little messy, yet who always find their inner strength (because I totally relate). My two decades worth of creating on stage and screen has given me a lot of experience bringing a story to life. I use my voice to bring a compelling point of view to Memoir.  As a host and spokesperson, I have an aptitude for bringing factual, medical, and technical jargon to life in a conversational and educational manner.

I am proficient in Cantonese and comfortable to voice Mandarin characters. Behind the scenes (or pages, if you will), I am working on honing accents such as Asian, German, RP, Scottish so I can bring worldly characters to life.

Can’t wait to dive into my next story, but until then you can find me on a pickleball court, or baking, or hanging out with my best friend, cheese, and counting the days until I can be on a lake jet skiing.

For the spicier side of things, tune into Ana Bee. 😉 💦

Ghosts, Toasts and Other Hazards

Middle Grade

AudioFile Magazine review

The youthful buoyancy of Dana Wing Lau’s narration alternates with notes of uncertainty reflecting the insecurity of sixth-grade Chinese American Mo Lin. She’s moved to a town lacking ethnic diversity and attends a middle school where microaggressions trigger her anxiety. Mo’s life is balanced by a supportive librarian, a willing friend, and her music-loving uncle. Anger and grief fill Lau’s voice when Mo thinks of her stepfather’s desertion of her family and her mother’s depression. Lau also registers the curiosity and determination Mo shows when researching her town’s racist past. During the story’s climax Lau shows Mo’s courage in confronting her nightmares, which include a strange elephant and ghostly characters. Lau also makes clear the moments when Mo achieves a feeling of safety.
